Soham Chakrabarty is an Indian playback singer who predominately works in Hindi as well as for Bengali films industry. He is popularly known for In Dino song from the film Life in A.. Metro which was released in 2007. Soham is the recipient of several awards honored for his commendable contribution in the field of music. He has served as a member of grand jury of musical reality show Saregamapa Lil Champs season 9.

Career

Soham started singing at age of 10. He is trained in Hindustani classical music under the guidance of Pandit Jayendra Ghosh and Sukhdev Sengupta. After that he shifted for Mumbai in 2002. In Mumbai, Soham began his career as a background singer in the song Ada and Dil Samander for movie Garam Masala.

Soham has done several jingles like Donalds Emami and Mc Donalds with music director Pritam Chakraborty. He sang his first song in Bengali Jaago Bhai Notum Kore for the Film Kurukshetra. He has sung several Bengali popular song like Aaj Tomake Tomar Theke, Saiyaan, Baba Aamar Biye Hobe Na, Prithibi Onek Boro, Jonaki Mon, Tomake Chai, Nana Ronge,Toke Chara etc.

Soham made her debut in Bollywood film Industry, with the song Dil Laga Na for Dhoom 2 with Mahalakshmi Iyer and Suzanne D’Mello in the year of 2006. He got popularity from the song In Dino from the Film Life in A… Metro. Later on, he grabbed on headlines for singing the song Khudaya Khair from the film Billu Barber.

Soham Chakraborty (born 4 March 1984) is an Indian actor, producer, television personality and politician. He has appeared in more than 100 Bengali films, as child artist (Master Bittu) and as male lead. He earned numerous accolades, including Uttam Kumar Awards, BFJA Awards and Star Jalsha Entertainment Awards. Chakraborty has a significant following in West Bengal, Assam and other adjacent states in India and Bangladesh. He is a member of All India Trinamool Congress. He contested 2016 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election from Borjora Constituency. He won the General election 2021 from Chandipur constituency by a margin of 14000 votes. He was sworn in as Member of Legislative Assembly on 2 May 2021.

Acting career

Soham Chakraborty made his Tollywood debut in 1988 as a child artist with the popular Bengali film Choto Bou. Early in his career, Chakraborty was recognised as Master Bittu and featured in several films as a child artist including Mangaldeep in 1989, Nayan Moni in 1989, Jowar Bhata in 1990, Satyajit Ray directed Shakha Proshakha in 1990, Bhagya Debata in 1997, starring Mithun Chakraborty and several other noted films. He was awarded Uttam Kumar Awards twice as Child Artist of the year for his performance in Jowar Bhata (1991) and Shakha Proshakha (1990). He has appeared in several television series and has played supporting roles in films in the late 1990s and early 2000s. After completing his higher education in the field of B.Com. (Hons.), he appeared in Chander Bari, directed by Tarun Majumdar (2007). Chakraborty, has described the difficult phase and struggling days in his acting career to appear in the big budget films. He was then launched with the film Bajimaat (2008), as male lead. He then rose to prominence after starring in 2009 film Prem Aamar directed by Raj Chakraborty and produced by Shree Venkatesh Films,

Soham Chakrabarty is a playback singer who has sung many songs for Bollywood movies as well as for Bengali movies. He was declared the winner of Zee's "Sa-re-ga-ma"(A musical competition) in the year 2000 (at the age of 20). Till now his big hit is "In Dino" song from the movie Life in A... Metro and "Khudaya Khair" from the movie Billu Barber.

Early life

Soham is a Bengali, who started singing at the age of ten. He is trained in Hindustani classical music under the guidance of Pandit Jayendra Ghosh, Ustad Mohammed Sagaruddin Khan saab and Sukhdev Sengupta. Music directors Bappi Lahiri and O P Nayyar suggested to him that if he wanted to pursue singing as a career, he'd have to shift base to Mumbai. Since then he started living in Mumbai. He came to Mumbai in 2002.

Career

He has been through a lot of struggle. He sang for Ada and Dil Samander (Garam Masala) ads though that was finally dubbed by Sonu Nigam and KK, respectively. He has done several ad jingles like Emami and Mc Donalds with music director Pritam. T-Series gave him his first break in 13 languages including Telugu, Tamil, Bhojpuri and Assamese. He has sung many Hindi and Bengali songs for Bollywood movies and Bengali movies, respectively. He has also sung devotional songs with popular singers like Debashish, Preeti, Pinky, Javed Ali, Charanjeet Singh Sondhi, Kalpana, Priya Bhattacharya, etc.
