She has had a significant impact on the musical landscape of Latin America and has been credited with popularizing Hispanophone music on a global level. The recipient of various accolades, she has won four Grammy Awards and fifteen Latin Grammy Awards, including three Song of the Year wins. Shakira made her recording debut with Sony Music Colombia at the age of 14. Following the commercial failure of her first two albums, Magia (1991) and Peligro (1993), she rose to prominence with the next two, Pies Descalzos (1995) and Dónde Están los Ladrones? (1998). Shakira entered the English-language market with her fifth album, Laundry Service (2001), which sold over 13 million copies worldwide, becoming the best-selling album of all time by a female Latin artist. Clásicos de la provincia es el nombre del sexto trabajo discográfico del cantautor colombianoCarlos Vives, el primero con la disquera Sonolux, este fue un álbum enfocado en el folclor vallenato, consistía en hacer versiones nuevas de clásicos vallenatos, pero con un sonido más comercial y fusionando el vallenato con instrumentos de la cumbia, y también del rock.
Fue editado en 1993 en LP, casete, y en CD.
Descripción
[editar]Luego del álbum que grabó de la banda sonora de "Escalona", Carlos pasó un proyecto para grabar un siguiente disco, pero las directivas de Sony Music le dieron un no al proyecto, ya que pensaron que como no tenía el apoyo de la novela, y tomando en cuenta que los discos anteriores de Vives no tuvieron éxito, con este tampoco lo tendría.
Pero en ese entonces, la disquera colombiana Sonolux, recibió el proyecto de Vives y sacó al mercado en 1993 "Clásicos de la Provincia", que fue un golpe bajo para las directivas de Sony Music, ya que el disco se convirtió en un clásico inmortal, proyectando el vallenato al escenario continental y mundial con su éxito "La gota fría".
Este trabajo musical fue dirigido por Carlos Vives, bajo la producción de Eduardo de Narváez, Bernardo Ossa y Fidel Jaramillo (estos últimos como productores asociado y ejecutivo, respectivamente).
