  • Royal hoax DJ Mel Greig 'was sent bullets in the post'

In her first UK broadcast interview, Ms Greig told Newsnight on Monday that she will always feel at fault "to an extent" about her death.

"I was mentioned in Jacintha's suicide note - not the Australian DJ, my name," she said.

"She thought of me before she took her own life. How can you not feel guilt and blame? And I always will, but I have learnt to deal with it now."

Ms Greig revealed how she had been the victim of death threats since the incident.

"I don't want to sit here and go 'poor me, it was terrible'," she said.

"[The Saldanha family] have lost a wife and a mother, but the trolling and the death threats were disgusting."

She said as well as the bullets being sent in the post, she had been stalked and harassed for 18 months.

"That won't stop until I take my own life, which is not going to happen," Ms Greig added.

Michael Christian is an Australian radio presenter.

Along with his co-host Mel Greig, he made a prank call to the hospital caring for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge that contributed to the suicide of one of the nurses.

    Career

In February 2006, Christian started his radio career at Sea FM Central Coast, after completing a Graduate Diploma in Commercial Radio Broadcasting at the Australian Film, Television & Radio School. He later moved on to become a morning announcer at 92.9 Perth.

On 5 October 2009, Christian started a position as the afternoons announcer at Austereo's Fox FM in Melbourne, Victoria before moving to mornings. He moved to Sydney's 2Day FM in December 2012 to host the Hot30 Countdown with Mel Greig, a nationally syndicated program.

In 2015, Christian returned to 2Day FM as an announcer.

On 6 December 2012, Christian and his 2Day FM radio co-host, Mel Greig, made a radio prank call to the hospital that was caring for Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, during her first pregnancy. The duo tricked the hospital into releasing private medical information on the Duchess by using "ridiculous comedy accents" to mimic Queen Elizabeth II and the Prince of Wales in an attempt to talk with the Duchess.

Two days later Jacintha Saldanha, one of the nurses who was tricked by the pair, was found dead in a suspected suicide.

Both Christian and Greig were seen on their Twitter accounts boasting about the prank a day earlier, calling

Michael Christian back on air two months after Kate prank call

One of the two Australian DJs who made a prank call to the London hospital where the Duchess of Cambridge was being treated is back on air.

Michael Christian was suspended two months ago by 2Day-FM in Sydney after the nurse who answered the phone - and believed the callers to be the Queen and Prince Charles - was found dead.

Mr Christian is broadcasting on sister-station Fox FM in Melbourne.

His co-presenter at the time of the prank, Mel Greig, is still off the air.

The duchess was being treated at King Edward VII's Hospital for an extreme form of morning sickness when Mr Christian and Ms Greig made their prank call pretending to be members of the Royal Family.

Jacintha Saldanha answered the call and put them through to another nurse who gave an update on the duchess's condition.

Mrs Saldanha, a 46-year-old wife and mother-of-two, was found hanged three days later. She had left three suicide notes, her inquest revealed as it was opened and adjourned.

Earlier this month the Crown Prosecution Service decided there was insufficient evidence to charge Mr Christian and Ms Greig with manslaughter over Mrs Saldanha's death.

2Day FM is owned by Southern Cross Austereo and its chief executive officer, Rhys Holleran, said: "We are happy to have Michael back on air.

"We have always supported our talent returning to work when appropriate and today marks that occasion for MC [Michael Christian]. We look forward to welcoming Mel Greig back when the time is right."

Royal prankster Michael Christian's career continues to soar on 2DayFM... while his former co-host Mel Greig struggles to find radio work after hoax call to UK hospital

It was a prank that went horribly wrong - when 2DayFM radio duo Michael Christian and Mel Greig concocted a plot to call a London hospital pretending to be the Queen and elicit details about the then-pregnant Duchess of Cambridge.

And as the repercussions of what was intended as an innocent joke unfolded, culminating in the suicide of the nurse who took the call, Mel and Michael were both suspended from the network.

But while Mel has since struggled to find radio work, Michael's career appears to be going from strength to strength, with the presenter covering the huge Magic Mike XXL premiere in Sydney on Monday for the network's The Dan & Maz Show.

While Michael's career seems undiminished following the fallout from the royal prank call in 2012, Mel went to work for an advertising agency when she found it hard to secure a permanent on-air role.
