Simon, the co-founder of the publishing house Simon & Schuster, and she grew up splitting her time between a Greenwich Village townhouse and a rambling estate in Stamford, Connecticut, surrounded by celebrity guests such as Albert Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt and Charles Addams.
